The exhaustion sleep doesn’t fix
You slept. You cleared the calendar. You spent the weekend resting.
And you still woke up feeling like you had not slept at all.
1. Insight
Cancer-related fatigue is not the same thing as being tired, and that difference matters more than most people realize.
Ordinary tiredness responds to rest. This kind often does not, and it can persist for months or even years after treatment ends, which is why “just get more sleep” can feel so frustrating as advice.
If rest is not working the way it used to, that is not a personal failure or a sign you are doing recovery wrong. It is one of the most commonly reported experiences in survivorship.
2. Practical tips
Tip 1: Stop measuring the day by how much you got done.
When energy is unpredictable, a task list becomes a scorecard you cannot win. Try picking one thing that genuinely needs to happen, and letting everything else be optional rather than delayed.
Tip 2: Protect the hours you actually have, not the ones you wish you had.
Most people find their energy has a pattern, even an unreliable one.
Notice when yours tends to be steadier, and put the appointment, the hard conversation, or the errand there. Let the rest of the day be lighter on purpose.

Support Made Simpler
When energy is limited, the everyday tasks are often what take the most out of you.
A Salto Health support registry gives friends and family a clear way to take some of those off your plate, so the energy you do have goes where you want it.
Create Your RegistryRest is still worth protecting, even on the days it does not fix everything.
